Julie grew up in rural Tennessee and started working with goats in small commercial dairies and homestead environments as she moved west to Utah and California. Moving to Hawaii in 2013 and Puna District in 2015, Julie now owns & operates “Goat With The Flow- Hawaii Island Pack Goats” where she raises “working” goats to help with invasive species removal and kipuka restoration through The Kipuka Kao Project; using a volun-tourism/eco-tourism model to diversify and maximize the value of her small homestead herd. A goat's milk lover and home cheese maker, Julie is passionate about local food production, Hawaii agriculture and island food sovereignty. She is dedicated to promoting these values and sharing them with others through her service to Hawaii Sheep & Goat Association (HSGA).
Daphne McKeehanSecretary
Daphne and her family own and operate Ahualoa Hog Farm and has raised hogs for 21 years and meat sheep for 10 years. They take pride in their livestock and continuously focus on genetic improvement. Daphne is also the owner and operator of Convenience Plus and Alkala Property Management.
Thema BlackVice-President
Since 2009, Thema manages the sheep herd at University of the Nations in Kona, a mix of St. Croix and Dorper crosses. In the 70-90's she and her family operated a sheep ranch in Oregon, where she showed and sold registered Suffolks. She is a volunteer staff member at YWAM Kona.
Amy DeckerTreasurer
Amy and her husband Rick own and operate Silver Oaks Ranch in Kona. They run a small Boutique Inn and also breed and sell (and milk!) a small herd of hand selected registered Nigerian Dwarf goats. Amy has been breeding and selling Nigerian Dwarf goats since 2001 when she imported the first registered breed to the islands.
